Saint Kentigern College is proud to offer Scholarships to students entering Years 9-11, beginning in 2026 and extending into the future. In the spirit of Presbyterian values, we aim to empower extraordinary students from all walks of life to pursue an exceptional education. Our Scholarships are designed to make this vision a reality for students who may not have had this opportunity otherwise.

For Extraordinary Individuals

Our College scholarships nurture talent and potential. We invite applications from students who embody excellence in academics, performing arts, sports, or a combination of these – individuals who easily uphold our Saint Kentigern values and radiate a positive attitude. Scholarships are available for tuition or boarding and are awarded from the commencement of Years 9, 10, or 11. They are awarded for the duration of the student’s schooling.

Eligibility & Duration

All scholarships are subject to review, to guarantee commitment, academic performance, attitude, and contribution to the college community. This continuous support ensures recipients stay on the path to excellence.

Academic Scholarship

  • For entry into Year 9, 2026. 
  • Showcase strong academic ability.
  • Active participation in cultural, sporting, and community activities.
  • This Scholarship has a maximum value of 50% of the tuition fees.

All-Round Scholarship

  • For entry into Years 9, 10, or 11, in 2026. 
  • Excel in academics, performing arts, and sports. 
  • Demonstrate an outstanding attitude and sportsmanship. 
  • Active participation in cultural and community activities. 
  • This Scholarship has a maximum value of 50% of the tuition fees.

Alumni Scholarship

  • Funded by the Saint Kentigern Alumni Association and awarded to one or two deserving students annually. 
  • Preference for students with a strong family connection to Saint Kentigern or those who may not have the opportunity otherwise. 
  • This Scholarship has a maximum value of 25% of the tuition fees.

Boarding Bursary

  • For entry into Years 9, 10, or 11, in 2026. 
  • Demonstrate an outstanding attitude and involvement in school life. 
  • This Scholarship has a maximum value of 50% of the boarding fees. (Please note, College tuition fees are not covered by this bursary). 

Performing Arts Scholarship

  • For entry into Years 9, 10, or 11, in 2026.  
  • Covers dance, drama, musical theatre and music.
  • Designed for talented students with proven technical, creative, or musical excellence. 
  • Students will participate fully in their chosen field and take the required subjects for Year 9-13. 
  • This Scholarship has a maximum value of 50% of the tuition fees.

Sport Scholarship

  • For entry into Years 9, 10, or 11 in 2026.
  • For those that display general sporting excellence with a proven track record.
  • Demonstrate outstanding attitude and sportsmanship. 
  • Maintain good academic ability.
  • Commit to full participation in the student's chosen sport throughout their time at the College, prioritising the College team over any club teams. 
  • This Scholarship has a maximum value of 50% of the tuition fees. In exceptional cases, a scholarship may be awarded up to 90% of the tuition fees.

Key Scholarship Dates for 2026  

  • Applications open Friday, 1 November 2024. 
  • Applications close on Friday, 28 February 2025.
  • Scholarship examinations Saturday, 15 March 2025. 
    Students applying for Academic and All Round Scholarships must be available to attend on this day.
  • Applicants for a Performing Arts scholarship may receive an invitation to audition on Saturday, 15 March 2025.
  •  Following the examinations and auditions, the Heads of Departments and Scholarship Panel will review results and applications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview with the Scholarship Panel in either Term 2 or Term 3, 2025.
  • All applicants, regardless of the outcome, will be notified by email.

Scholarship Applications for 2026 close at 5:00 pm on Friday 28 February 2025.

1. Apply Online

To apply for a scholarship, please complete the application form: 

There is no application fee to apply for a scholarship. You will need to attach a copy of your child’s NZ Birth Certificate or NZ Passport or current passport, CV, a copy of their latest school reports and reference letters.

For students that have had any educational or medical assessments e.g. Educational Psychologist, SPELD, Occupational Therapist, a copy of the report is required.

2. Exams and Auditions

Students applying for Academic and All Round Scholarships must be available to attend examinations on Saturday, 15 March 2025. Applicants for a Performing Arts scholarship may receive an invitation to audition on Saturday 15 March 2025.

3. Interviews

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview with the Scholarship Panel in either Term 2 or Term 3, 2025.

4. Offer of Place (successful interview)

Following a successful interview, you will receive a written scholarship offer.

5. Acceptance

To accept the scholarship offer, an Enrolment Agreement must be signed by both parents and returned to the Admissions team.
