The Mission of Saint Kentigern is to provide an education that inspires students to strive for excellence in all areas of life for the glory of God and the service of others.

"...In the Service of Others..."

Service is integral to Saint Kentigern’s identity. Service takes various forms, and it is not about grand gestures. Little acts of kindness, consideration, and compassion that occur in classrooms, sports fields, or at home have as much impact on personal growth as on those being served. Our emphasis on service learning empowers our students to discover their best selves and cultivate lifelong values.

As students journey through the College, service opportunities unfold at school and community levels. They actively engage in projects such as the World Vision's 40-Hour Challenge, The Shed (the Saint Kentigern Foodbank) that serves the broader Auckland community. Students learn the purpose giving, with a sense of gratitude, fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy.

Students from Year 9-13, working together as Tutor Groups, visit local primary schools regularly to assist with lunchtime activities. Year 7-8 students often help with packing food boxes and preparing Hangi meals for a regular community dinner.

During the week, after school our students volunteer to assist at Howick Baptist Home where a large number of meaningful relationships have been formed over the years with the rest home residents .

Service is integrated within our College curriculum, and staff actively pursue opportunities engage students in service learning and activities.

For our senior students, service often leads them into uncharted territory, where their willingness to offer help sets them apart. A team of Year 12 & 13 students spend their July holidays building housing and working in schools in Vanuatu each year.

The Duke of Edinburgh programme, and the International Baccalaureate curriculum are strongly promoted at Saint Kentigern and these awards also integrate service as central to student learning.
