History's Biggest Fan Club
The Antiquities Guild is a club focused on the ancient civilisations and cultures of the world. Topics explored include, but are not limited to, Ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian cultures, along with mythology, historical figures, and significant historical events.
The Guild brings together students from all year levels who share an interest in ancient cultures. During Terms 1 and 2, the club took part in a range of competitions related to the ancient world, including creative writing, art, and essay competitions from around the world.
Alongside these competitions, the club introduced a student presentation programme. Students formed groups and prepared presentations and activities for the rest of the club on an ancient culture topic that interested them. This encouraged greater participation and increased enthusiasm and commitment, as members researched and presented topics they were genuinely passionate about.
Members are now putting their collaborative creativity to work, painting shields inspired by ancient cultures. The ongoing activity allows members to bond while creating artwork based on themes from the ancient world, with many choosing mythological figures such as the Ancient Greek gods as inspiration for their designs.
In Term 4, the Guild will hold its annual Ancient Cake Competition, where students create cakes inspired by ancient cultures to be judged and shared with the rest of the club.
