Perfect Scores for Girls' School at Mathex

On 20 August, our top problem-solving teams competed in the Auckland-wide Mathex Competition at Barfoot & Thompson Arena in Kohimarama. Around 140 teams of four went head-to-head in each of the Year 7 and Year 8 divisions.

The Year 7 competition opened the evening, and our Year 7A team delivered the best Mathex result in the school's history. All 20 questions answered correctly for a perfect 100 points, and 2nd place overall. Year 7B also finished on a perfect 100, placing in the top 25% of teams.

In the Year 8 competition, Team A kept pace with the fastest schools and finished on a perfect 100 points, placing 14th. Year 8B also completed the competition with a full 100 points.

Only a handful of schools each year manage perfect scores, let alone all their teams. It's a strong reflection of the girls' mathematical ability and teamwork under pressure.
